Mahela Group, a leading citrus and avocado producer from Letsitele, and ZZ2 Group, a leading avocado and tomato producer from Mooketsi, are developing a 400-hectare avocado and citrus farming operation in Weipe, Limpopo, South Africa, with a non-controlling minority equity investment from AgDevCo.
AgDevCo provided a non-controlling minority equity investment into Skutwater Boerdery (Pty) Ltd (Skutwater) to partner with Mahela Group and ZZ2 Group, two prominent farming businesses in South Africa. AgDevCo’s investment will allow the current operation to expand from a combined 190 hectares of citrus and avocadoes to 400 hectares under phase 1, with further potential to expand to 1,500 hectares under phase 2. The partnership includes the intention that Skutwater actively pursues expansion opportunities in southern Africa (outside of South Africa) with an initial focus on Mozambique.
Skutwater is a producer of early season export citrus and avocados in Limpopo, South Africa. Skutwater was established by Mahela Group and ZZ2 Group to take advantage of early season citrus and avocado market opportunities.
