Galeb Gulam is a seasoned executive with more than 25 years of global experience transforming industrial, infrastructure, telecoms and healthcare businesses across Africa and Central Asia. He has led large-scale portfolio repositioning, ESG-driven growth and operational turnarounds, consistently delivering sustainable profitability.
Most recently, Galeb served as Global Head of Industry & Infrastructure at the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED), where he oversaw a portfolio worth over USD $1bn spanning more than 20 companies across over a dozen countries. His leadership has driven major renewable energy developments, telecoms expansion, large-scale manufacturing upgrades, and innovative agriculture and healthcare projects.
He has supported teams negotiating more than USD $1bn in financing transactions—supporting subsea cable expansion, renewable energy projects, healthcare, healthcare manufacturing, and entrepreneurship initiatives—and has managed teams of over 10,000 employees whilst engaging 40,000+ farmers and suppliers.
A Chartered Accountant (Canada) with extensive financial and governance expertise, Galeb also serves on multiple boards and advisory bodies. He is passionate about ESG-led strategy, sustainable industrial development, and building resilient businesses that create long-term value for communities and shareholders.
