Our social impact

Nurevas expects to reach 6,900 smallholders through its suppliers and to hire an additional 28 employees in addition to the 28 existing jobs sustained by AgDevCo.
Lift in income
Expansion of Nurevas’ local supplier network is expected to provide higher and more regular income for small-scale farmers.
Food security
In building a local manufacturing base, Nurevas will improve food security and substitute imports of processed foods to Ghana.
Transfer of knowledge to local processor of soya bean oil to achieve high-quality production standards i.e. ISO certification.
The Challenges

Nurevas is a manufacturer and marketer of high-quality processed foods. Despite a large and growing retail and food services market in Ghana, less than 15% of demand is met by local processing capacity. There has been insufficient investment in local food production and this has given rise to the growth of distributors who import large volumes of processed foods into Ghana. Nurevas seeks to position itself as the leading West African manufacturer of high-quality sauces, spreads and condiments.

Our Approach

AgDevCo’s $4.0m investment is providing Nurevas with the capital required to deliver on co-packing agreements with international and local brands and to grow sales of its own-brand products into the Ghanaian and West African market. The funds will be used to add a packaging line and fund marketing expenditure.

Our Impact
  • 28 full-time jobs sustained (15 men and 13 women)
  • 1,800 MT of agricultural produce to be sourced locally per year in substitution of imports. This will support an estimated local production of 7,200 MT of soya beans, and potentially significant quantities of tomatoes at a later date.
  • 6,100 smallholders expected to be impacted through soya bean procurement.
  • $713 estimated annual income uplift per smallholder.
  • Over 10,000 MT per year of processing throughput per year at the Nurevas factory.
