LATEST NEWS: AgDevCo, fund manager of the BAGC Catalytic Fund, calls for agribusiness investment applications from Mozambican entrepreneurs

11 January 2012:

The Beira Agricultural Growth Corridor (BAGC) Catalytic Fund invites Mozambican entrepreneurs located in Sofala, Manica and Tete Provinces to submit agribusiness investment applications to the Catalytic Fund.

The Catalytic Fund, which is managed by AgDevCo, makes debt and equity investments in commercially-viable agribusinesses in the Beira Corridor which are expected to have a positive social impact on local farmers and communities. Amounts invested by the Catalytic Fund are typically in the range US$50,000 to US$500,000 per business, with additional investment available in exceptional cases.

Applications may be submitted at any time in Portuguese or English using the template available on the BAGC website. All applications must be submitted to rwhalley@agdevco.com using the template provided. Incomplete application forms will not be considered.

To qualify for investment, entrepreneurs must have a strong business plan and “on the ground” management capability to implement it successfully. Applicants will need to demonstrate that the business is able to repay the investment to the Catalytic Fund within five years.

Please be aware there is a high level of competition for resources from the Catalytic Fund. To date we have only been able to support one out of every four completed applications. In some cases the BAGC Partnership is able to offer support for the development of business plans. Please contact the BAGC Partnership ezhou@beiracorridor.com for details.
