Jonathan has over 30 years’ experience working in agriculture, forestry and wildlife conservation across Eastern Africa. He is currently Senior Agricultural Advisor to AgDevCo, where he supports investments in forestry, avocados, floriculture, macadamias, horticulture, broad acre arable, and edible oils. He is also a Technical Assistance Committee (TAC) member at AgDevCo. He serves on the Board of Agris Africa, a holding company for a group of horticultural investments, and as an Advisor to the Board of Agventure, a consortium of large arable farms. He has been Managing Director of Kisima Farm, a broad-acre arable, seed potato, floriculture, and forestry business, as well as Director of a series of associated ranching, conservation, and tourism companies. He has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Borana Conservancy since its formation. He previously served as CEO of the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, and earlier as Executive Director of the Laikipia Wildlife Forum. He was a founding partner of a conservation finance company, Conservation Capital, and of the Conservation Management Group, which has significant conservation holdings in Mozambique. He holds a DPhil in Plant Ecology, and an MSc in Forestry, both from the University of Oxford, and a BSc from the University of British Columbia.
